Parlamentarios británicos hacen un llamamiento a John Kerry para que conceda el derecho de visita a dos esposas de los Cinco Antiterroristas

Setenta y un parlamentarios británicos han escrito a John Kerry, Secretario de Estado de los EEUU, exhortándole que conceda visas a dos cubanas, Adriana Pérez y Olga Salanueva, para que puedan visitar a sus respectivos esposos que cumplen penas en dicho país.

Gerardo Hernández, encarcelado en USP Victorville, y René González, que cumple una pena de libertad supervisada en la Florida, son dos de los cinco cubanos que fueron injustamente juzgados por el gobierno estadounidense y que se encuentran encarcelados desde 1998.

A las señoras Salanueva y Pérez se les ha denegado en diez ocasiones ya una visa de entrada a los Estados Unidos que les permitiría visitar a sus esposos.  Amnistía Internacional ha declarado que el trato que han recibido las dos esposas va “en contra, tanto de las normas para el tratamiento humano de los prisioneros, como de la obligación de los países de proteger la vida familiar.”        

En su carta, los parlamentarios piden “que el gobierno de los Estados Unidos considere la posibilidad de conceder a Olga Salanueva y a Adriana Pérez el derecho de visita para que puedan volver a ver a sus maridos.”

Dicha carta lleva las firmas de representantes de las dos cámaras del Parlamento británico: o sea las de ocho miembros de la Cámara de los Lores y de sesenta y tres diputados elegidos a la Cámara de los Comunes.

Rob Miller, director de la Campaña de Solidaridad con Cuba del Reino Unido ha comentado:  “Hay cada vez más miembros del público y del Parlamento británicos que están informados del caso de los Cinco y que están uniéndose a la campaña internacional que reclama para ellos la libertad  y el derecho de visita.  Instamos a John Kerry a demostrar que los Estados Unidos es capaz de actuar con compasión al responder positivamente a las peticiones expresadas en la carta de estos parlamentarios que representan a millones de ciudadanos británicos. “

Llamamiento humanitario para el Secretario de Estado de EE.UU. para conceder derechos de visita a las esposas de los Cinco Héroes

Estimado señor Secretario de Estado:

Le estamos escribiendo para hacer un llamamiento humanitario para intervenir en las solicitudes de visado de dos ciudadanos cubanos - Adriana Pérez y Olga Salanueva - que buscan permiso para visitar a sus esposose encarcelados en los Estados Unidos.

El esposo de la Sra. Pérez, Gerardo Hernández, cumple dos cadenas perpetuas más quince años en  la cárcel de Victorville, Adelanto California. René González, esposo de Olga Salanueva está actualmente  en Florida cumpliendo una pena de tres años de libertad supervisada en la Florida después de cumplir su condena en la cárcel. Ambas mujeres se les ha negado visas de entrada por las autoridades estadounidenses en diez ocasiones, y en el caso de Olga Salanueva, más encima le dijeron que es permanentemente inelegible para solicitar de nuevo.

Su caso es apoyado por organizaciones religiosas, legales y de derechos humanos de todo el mundo, entre ellas Amnistía Internacional, que han desclarado la negación de los derechos visitaciones como:

"van en conctra tanto de las normas para el tratamiento humano de los prisioneros  como de la de la « obligación de proteger la vida familiar ".

Respetuosamente pedimos solamente que el gobierno de Estados Unidos considera un gesto humanitario de conceder derechos de visita a Olga Salanueva y a Adriana Pérez  y permita que estas dos mujeres  vean sus esposos de nuevo.Le saludan atentamente,

British parliamentarians call on John Kerry to grant visitation rights to wives of Miami Five

Seventy-one British parliamentarians have written to US Secretary of State John Kerry asking him to grant visas to allow two Cuban women, Adriana Perez and Olga Salanueva, to visit their husbands in the United States.

Gerardo Hernandez, imprisoned in U.S.P. Victorville, and Rene Gonzalez, on supervised release in Florida, are two of the Miami Five, five Cuban men unjustly tried and imprisoned since 1998 by the United States government.

Mrs Salanueva and Mrs Pérez, have been denied visitation rights and refused visas to visit their husbands on ten separate occasions. Amnesty International has described the treatment as “contrary both to the standards for the humane treatment of prisoners and to a states’ obligation to protect family life.”

The letter asks that “the government of the United States considers a humanitarian gesture to grant visitation rights and allow these two women to see their husbands again.”

The letter is signed by representatives of both British Houses of Parliament including eight members of the House of Lords and 63 elected MPs.

Rob Miller, Director of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Britain said:

“Increasing numbers of the British public and parliamentarians are hearing about the case of the Miami Five and joining the international campaign for their freedom and visitation rights. We urge John Kerry to show that the US is capable of compassion by responding positively to the requests in this letter from British parliamentarians representing millions of UK citizens.”

Humanitarian appeal to the U.S. Secretary of State to grant visitation rights to the wives of the Miami Five

Dear Secretary of State John Kerry,

We are writing to make a humanitarian appeal to you to intervene in the visa applications of two Cuban nationals – Adriana Perez and Olga Salanueva – who are seeking permission to visit their husbands in the United States.

Mrs Perez’s husband, Gerardo Hernandez, is serving two life sentences and fifteen years in Adelanto California, and Rene Gonzalez, husband of Olga Salanueva is currently on three years supervised release in Florida after completing his sentence. Both women have been denied entry visas by US authorities on ten separate occasions, and in the case of Olga Salanueva, told she is permanently ineligible to apply again.

Their case is supported by religious, legal and human rights organisations around the world including Amnesty International, who have described the denial of visitations rights as:

“contrary both to standards for the human treatment of prisoners and to a states’ obligation to protect family life.”

We respectfully ask only that the government of the United States considers a humanitarian gesture to grant visitation rights and allow these two women to see their husbands again.
